Thanks to Crystal Markusson for reaching out and providing the following information on the College Lorette Colllegiate Theatrical program.
Musical Theatre fosters a social awareness through exposure to the social issues, events and cultures portrayed in the scripts. Participation in Musical Theatre increases student engagement and encourages participation in the learning environment. It allows students to explore their imaginations and make creative choices, think of new ideas and interpret familiar material in new ways all while enhancing both their verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Musical Theatre also helps with a student’s self-awareness and self-confidence. Musical Theatre gives students a place to belong and a place to grow as human beings. Students learn to express themselves in different ways and many find it a release from the every day stressors that they otherwise experience. It allows them an opportunity to be part of a team where they might otherwise not have the chance.
