Revamp Your Tree Watering Routine!

🌳 Watering Reminder from C & S Country Gardens – Lorette, Manitoba

With dry conditions settling in, we're stepping up our commitment to tree care.

If you have trees—especially young ones still establishing roots—now’s the time to lend them a helping hand. Whether they’re in your backyard, lining the boulevard, or standing proud at your place of worship or workplace, trees need deep, consistent watering to thrive.

🌱 Tree Watering Tips You Should Know:

  1. Water beyond the drip line—that’s where roots are reaching out for nutrients and moisture.
  2. New trees: 2x per week. Established trees: 1x per week.
  3. Make sure the water penetrates at least 15 cm (6") deep—a quick sprinkle just won't cut it.
  4. No hose? No problem! Use a 19L (5-gallon) bucket:
    • 1 bucket for younger trees
    • 2 buckets for trees a few years old
    • More for mature ones
  5. Add natural mulch under the drip line—it helps retain moisture and nourishes the soil over time.
  6. Use a 20 Gallon Tree Watering bag available at C & S Country Gardens.

Even though trees can survive drought, they become more vulnerable to pests and diseases if stressed. Let’s give them a fighting chance—water wisely and share the love with your leafy neighbours!
