Notre Dame de Lorette CWL
The Notre Dame de Lorette CWL is part of a national not-for-profit organization of women known as The Catholic Women’s League of Canada whose motto is “For God and Canada”. Members are called to grow in faith, and to witness to the love of God through ministry and service.
The Notre Dame de Lorette CWL have been a constant presence in their community for 37 years, giving of their time, gifts, and talents in various ways, sharing the good news of their Christian calling to love and serve God and neighbour. Their members are tireless volunteers at Tache Food Resource Centre and Thrifty Treasures.
They are also known for their advocacy for social justice and by their resolutions and petitions to all levels of government. Most notably, their resolution to the RM of Tache and the Manitoba Provincial Government was the catalyst for pedestrian crosswalks that were installed in Lorette across from the high school, and another across from Notre Dame de Lorette church.
Each spring and fall since 2019, these women have championed and done the work of cleaning litter along 8 km. of ditches bordering PR #207 through Adopt-A-Highway as an expression of caring for our common home.
The fundraising done by CWL through C&S Country Gardens and other initiatives enables them to give back to the community through offering a $500 scholarship for post-secondary education, sponsoring children to attend youth camps, providing assistance to missions, soup kitchens, etc., hosting speakers and raising awareness about mental illness, human trafficking, the dignity of life, etc.
For the past two years, Notre Dame de Lorette CWL have put a focus on Christ in Christmas by participating in the Parade of Lights with a float and handing out treats to the children along the parade route.
Notre Dame de Lorette CWL greatly appreciate the community support over the years.
